Supportive Statements

Parents and caregivers are often torn between wanting to protect their child and wanting them to face their fears. What you tell your child during an anxious moment can greatly impact their ability to cope with their anxiety.

In this lesson, Shannon will explain the principle of supportive statements  - an effective way to both validate your child’s feelings and communicate your confidence in their abilities to copy with their anxiety.

Lesson Goal: Write supportive statements you’ll use the next time your child faces an anxious moment.
