Caregiver Training FAQs

  • When it comes to dealing with mental health challenges, the saying “strength in numbers” really holds true.

    Young people find it easier to share (even those who need encouragement) and gain confidence from each other.

    The group format also enables them to practice skills together.

  • We put together families of children of similar ages who face similar challenges.

    Age ranges are:

    • 8-11

    • 12-15

    • 16-19

    There are two therapists moderating each group ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Yours is the most important role in the program. Your child will learn skills from therapists. but you will help your child practice those skills in every day situations.

    You will also learn proven and practical parenting skills that will help you support your child’s mental health and cope with this symptoms.

  • Talking about treatment can be intimidating. But it is important to speak with your child about the program. Three key points;

    1. Try to normalize your child’s experience. Fact is, millions of children are facing similar challenges and s/he will get to meet some of them in the program.

    2. Show partnership. The program is designed for the whole family. You’re going on this journey together. It won’t always be easy but you will grow and learn together.

    3. Get to session one. Your child may resist diverting time away from other things they love. But experience shows that once they attend a session, they understand the benefit and enjoy the experience. Just get your child to session one. Even if you need to promise a reward for attending.
